Super Bowl Free Pick with Corrected Writeup
Published: Sun, 02/05/17
My first email said the Patriots hadn't scored a single point in any of their Super Bowl appearances since 2001. Wow! How could they have won so many of those games?!
The stat should have read: in their six Super Bowl appearances since 2001 the Patriots haven't scored a single point in the first quarter in any of those games! That is still a pretty crazy stat, and it is part of the reason I like the first half under. Corrected writeup below.
Patriots/Falcons 1st half under 28.5- Did you know that the Patriots haven't scored a single first quarter point in any of their six Super Bowl appearances since 2001? That's a wild statistic that is quite mind-boggling. This game total is high for a reason, but I do see value on the first half. There is a feeling out process in a big game like this, and it usually means less points early in the game. Additionally, neither of these two teams plays all that quickly. There shouldn't be a ton of uptempo action, and scoring more than four touchdowns in the first half is a tough feat in any NFL game. Did you know that both of these teams rank in the top 11 in the NFL (Pats 5th and Falcons 11th) in percentage of plays that are a run? A lot of running and a slow tempo makes under 28.5 an even more enticing play. I'll take the first half under here.
I guess that's what I get for typing this up while I had the flu (been around the whole family all week and it finally hit me)! Wanted to get the information out to everyone though and say thanks for a great season.
Again, apologies for the second email.
Thanks,
Kyle
